Red Wing Shoes
STYLE NO. 8818, Black Harness / Black Abilene
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE MOC TOE STYLE
Nothing says, “Red Wing”, like a moc toe boot with a white polyurethane outsole. It’s a style we started making in the 1950s for sportsmen but it worked equally well on farms and in factories due to that Traction Tred sole with its minimal tread that sheds mud and provides the underfoot comfort the work day required. The crescent-shaped stitching on the toe was inspired by the construction of the shoes, or “moccasins” originally worn by the North American Algonquin Indians. Our Classic Moc Toe boots have since become a legend.
The new model is a totally new and unique product. The combination on a Moc toe with a combination of Rough out and Smooth leather on a Moc Toe has been done before in 1981, but this was a complete different execution on a different out sole.
Both boots come with
Leather Lace (80-inch leather lace (customer can cut to length)

Roughout leather is created using a reverse-suede technique at our very own S.B. Foot Tanning Co. While most tanneries split, thin and weaken the hide to create the rough suede surface, we simply use the other side of the hide. By doing so, we avoid splitting or thinning our full-grain hides. This makes our Roughout leather just as strong and durable as our other leathers.
