The main compartment is made from Oil Finish Tin Cloth, which protects gear from rain, sleet and snow, just as it has protected generations of loggers and sportsmen in the rain-soaked forests of the Pacific Northwest. Tin Cloth is a tightly woven canvas thoroughly saturated with a paraffin-wax formulation for maximum water resistance. Industrial-strength Rugged Twill with a 2×3 weave forms the back panel, reinforces the base and provides additional structure and durability. The padded shoulder straps are made from Tin Cloth and lined with Moleskin, a soft cotton fabric that helps prevent slipping while improving breathability. The curved, adjustable straps attach to the backpack with vegetable-tanned Bridle Leather from Wickett \u0026amp; Craig, the historic Pennsylvania tannery established in 1867. The Bridle Leather is made from hides soaked in a bark-tannin solution for several weeks. Tallow and wax are then added to increase suppleness and lustre. The result is a leather equally suited to luggage and equestrian tack.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Journeyman’s lined main compartment closes with a heavy-duty brass YKK® zipper, protected from water along its entire length by a Tin Cloth storm flap. The padded back panel protects against sharp or bulky items, while the padded interior compartment accommodates a laptop up to 15\" (38 cm). The exterior pocket features snap-fastened corner gussets that allow it to expand for additional capacity.
