Filson’s Journeyman Backpack offers generous capacity and carries comfortably, whether used on the trail, on the job or for daily commuting. It does its job in a quiet, practical way without drawing unnecessary attention to itself.

The backpack combines several of Filson’s signature materials. The main compartment is made from oil finish Tin Cloth, helping protect the contents from rain, sleet and snow. Tin Cloth is a tightly woven canvas duck, saturated with a paraffin-based wax treatment for strong water repellency. The back panel and base are reinforced with industrial-strength 2-ply by 3-ply Rugged Twill for structure and long-lasting durability.

The padded shoulder straps are made from Tin Cloth and lined with Moleskin, a soft cotton fabric with a sueded surface that helps reduce slipping while improving breathability. The adjustable straps are secured with vegetable-tanned Bridle Leather from Wickett & Craig, the historic Pennsylvania tannery founded in 1867.

The lined main compartment closes with a solid brass YKK® zipper, protected by a Tin Cloth rain gutter along its full length. The zipper opens more than halfway down the bag for easy access and a clear view inside. An interior padded pocket fits laptops up to 15”. The exterior pocket has expandable snap-secured gussets, allowing it to stay low-profile or expand when extra space is needed.
